How Does your Basic Training Program Work?

In order to complete our Basic Training program and receive a Certificate of Completion, these steps must be taken:

  • Completion of both Weekend 1 and Weekend 2 Trainings (each weekend training is 3 full days- Friday, Saturday and Sunday–attendance during all 3 days is required).
  • Reading the textbook first 100 pages: “EMDR: Basic Principles, Protocols and Procedures” (Shapiro 2018, 3rd Ed.)
  • 10 hours of case consultation with an EMDR Institute Approved Facilitator/Consultant (5 hours prior to Weekend 2; 5 hours after Weekend 2). *Note: we recommend allowing 3-4 months in between weekend 1 and 2 trainings to give yourself enough time to get the 5 hours of consultation. A list of approved Facilitators is provided during training and also included in the training manual. (Workshop fees do not include case consultation).
  • You must complete this process within one year of taking weekend 1 basic training.
  • Upon completion, you are considered “EMDR Trained” and can market yourself accordingly. ‘Certification’ is an optional process and is offered through EMDRIA (EMDR International Association), a separate organization from us.
