What is the difference between EMDR trained and EMDRIA certified?

To be 𝗘𝗠𝗗𝗥 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 by the 𝗘𝗠𝗗𝗥 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 means you have completed both Weekend 1 and 2 of Basic Training and completed 10 hours of (required) case consultation by  an 𝗘𝗠𝗗𝗥 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗗 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 and have received your Basic Training Certificate of Completion. You can then use EMDR in your practice and refer to yourself as 𝗘𝗠𝗗𝗥 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱.

𝘾𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 happens through 𝗘𝗠𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗔 (EMDR International Association and is a 𝘴𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 from the EMDR Institute). EMDRIA is a membership and credentialing association that sets the standards and requirements for EMDR Training and Continuing Education in EMDR. This certification is an 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 process and is separate from the Basic Training. The EMDR Institute does not offer this next level. For details, you can go to 𝘄𝘄𝘄.𝗘𝗠𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗔.𝗼𝗿𝗴 and complete their certification process.

For clarification: only EMDR Institute approved Facilitators can provide consultation for the 10 hours to complete basic training.
